Det finns så mycket att säga just nu. Massa tankar, massa saker och så förstås – massa Egypten.
Ja, vi drog dit på sportlovet. Det blev väldigt spontant. Egentligen hade vi en annan resa planerad men vi bokade om i sista stund.
Egypten har tidigare inte lockat mig jättemycket om jag ska vara helt ärlig. Kanske för att jag så mycket har förknippat landet med charterkomplex och turistorter. Men var det nåt vi lärde oss på jorden runt-resan så var det ju att alla länder naturligtvis har sin egen själ.
Och går att göra på sitt eget sätt.
Och en sak har alltid ändå varit på vill-se-listan: pyramiderna.

Faktiskt så fanns det med som ett alternativ när vi skulle hem från Brasilien i juni, jag kollade en del på att hitta nån anslutning för att avsluta med just pyramiderna som lite grande finale. Men det blev väldigt lång resa och kändes onödigt dyrt, så det blev ju Paris och Eiffeltornet istället.

Hur som helst. Jag bokade in oss på ett hostel i Giza, Kairo i tre dagar. Tänkte att vi börjar där.
Jag gick framför allt på att stället hade väldigt bra recensioner, och att de som bott där verkade nöjda med att ha fått mycket råd och tips om staden, landet och det fortsatta resandet genom ägaren Thomas.
Passade ju bra för oss som inte hade superkoll, tänkte jag.

Vi flyttade in på Pyramid Loft för tre nätter. Vi fick faktiskt en lägenhet, absolut ingen lyx men två sovrum, kök och badrum med badkar. Bäst av allt var dock utsikten från terrasserna.
Vi bodde hur nära pyramiderna som helst. Det kändes nästan lite overkligt att ha dom där när vi vaknade, som frukostutsikt, när vi kom hem på kvällarna och de lystes upp av ljus.

Barnen som vill uppleva världens underverk fick verkligen göra det, och denna gång det enda av antikens sju underverk som finns kvar. (de ”samlar” ju även på den sju nya underverken, två av sju avklarade där; Jesusstatyn i Rio och Machu Picchu i Peru)

För mig var nästan det härligaste att känna den resande känslan igen. Att åka genom Kairo på kvällen när vi anlände från flygplatsen, vakna upp i Giza nästa morgon, en oskriven vecka ligger framför. Pyramiderna framför oss, kameler och hästar på gatan. Böneutrop och nya smaker till frukost.

Jag kan erkänna det också; att jag bortskämt nog hade varit lite orolig om en vecka verkligen skulle kännas tillräckligt eller om jag bara skulle gå omkring och känna mig stressad och lite missnöjd för att vi inte skulle resa längre… (ja, jag hör att det låter EXTREMT bortskämt, men med tanke på att den senaste resan varade i nio månader så kanske jag kan ursäktas lite med detta…)
Och det var väldigt fint att få bli positivt överraskad. Vad mycket vi hann! Vad mycket vi gjorde! Vad bra det kändes inuti!

Att vara tillbaka på hostel igen var fint. Milo och Jack älskar verkligen att bo på hostel och träffa andra resande människor. Den här gången hängde dom en hel kväll med ett ungt par från Taiwan, de satt och pratade på terrassen i timmar och berättade om sina resor och frågade om Taiwan. Sen spelade dom upp sina favoritlåtar på Spotify och Taiwan-paret spelade sina.
Patrik och jag höll oss en bit bort på terrassen den kvällen, men det var roligt att på håll höra barnens hostel-samtal igen. Vad fort dom kom in i både språket och sättet att leva/vara.

Vi hade så kul! Det ska bli så roligt att berätta mer om dagarna då vi upptäckte pyramider och gravar, både i Giza och i Saqqara. Och hur vi väldigt spontant sen fortsatte vår resa i Egypten med att ta nio timmar (som blev tolv…) i nattbuss ut på Sinaihalvön där vi hittade ett för oss alldeles perfekt litet ställe där vi också fick uppleva Röda Havet.
