Vi bor inte så jättelångt från Sjötorp, där Göta Kanal börjar (eller slutar..) Kanalen har också blivit en av favoriterna för oss när det gäller lite kortare utflykter, över en dag eller med någon/några nätters stopp.
Här kommer några tips från oss:
• Cykla mellan Sjötorp – Karlsborg
Kan förstås även delas upp i kortare etapper. Patrik och jag köpte ett cykelpaket, med två övernattningar inklusive middagar, där vi cyklade denna sträcka tur och retur.
Min favoritdel: Töreboda – Tåtorp (ca 15 km)
Vi har ännu inte cyklat med barnen här, det står på att göra-listan, men morfar och Milo cyklade med utgångspunkt Sjötorp i somras. Milo gillade detta mycket.
• Bo på Idas Brygga
Superfint ställe precis vid vattnet i Karlsborg! Otroligt fina rum, och trevlig restaurang med topputsikt. Ett missa inte-ställe.”

• Besök Norrqvarn
Mysigt ställe vid kanalen. Hotell och restaurang, men också fin utomhusmiljö med mini-Göta kanal som är populärt hos barnen att leka i. Typiskt bra dagsutflykt eller stopp under en Göta Kanal-upplevelse.
Har också trollstubbar och svampar som man kan bo i. De har vi inte testat, men de ser fina ut!

Lina heter den, och går över Göta kanal i Töreboda.
• Bergs slussar
Ännu ett fint stopp. Här har vi stannat ett par gånger och ätit eller fikat, och barnen (och vi) har spanat på båtar under slussningarna.

• Stubbstugorna på Karlsborgs camping
Hit kan jag längta tillbaka! Vi hade en så rolig långhelg här när barnen var mindre. Stubbarna (det finns två) ligger också himla fint vid vattnet. Skulle gärna återvända hit.
Dessutom gav den här vistelsen upphov till två sagofigurer jag fantiserade ihop där och berättade om för Milo och Jack. Och det är faktiskt så att Troll-Fia och Trollitrolltroll, som alltså bor i just denna stubbe, har följt oss sen dess. De dyker upp då och då och gör nya saker som jag berättar om för Milo och Jack. Så vi håller trollstubben aktuell i minnet, kan man säga 🙂
• Karlsborgs fästning
Det var några år sen vi var där, som ni ser på bilden nedan. Men vi gillar ofta den här typen av platser, finns alltid fina grejer för barn att göra och är sällan särskilt dyra entréer. Dessutom lärorikt. Så var det här också. Och nu, när dom är större, är utbudet ännu bättre – i sommar kan barn delta på Jakten på den försvunna guldreserven eller Lilla Guldjakten.
Prästgården, Töreboda
Töreboda är en jättebra utgångspunkt om man vill upptäcka kanalen, inte minst om man ska göra det på cykel eftersom det är toppenfina vägar åt båda håll längs kanalen härifrån.
Vi bodde en natt på Prästgården och trivdes.

• Lanthöjden
Göta Kanals egen lilla ö ligger cirka 12 km söder om Töreboda. Hur fint som helst här! Vid Lanthöjden är kanalen som smalast och det är också kanalens högsta punkt.
