Det var vår allra sista dag i Cusco, Peru. Vi hade haft det så himla bra där och trivdes verkligen i den stan. Vi stannade också flera dagar längre än vad vi från början hade planerat.
Av en slump hittade Patrik första morgonen en marknad i ”vår” stadsdel San Blas som hade fantastiska stånd där det såldes mackor och juicer på löpande band. Man satt på rad vid diskarna och åt, och det var alltid så härligt där, full fart, pinfärska frukter och grönsaker, dofter, livligt och en total blandning av folk.
Vår sista dag gick vi också hit för att äta lunch, de hade det också i liknande ”snabb-format” och den här dagen valde jag och Jack vegetariskt och Milo och Patrik tog ett annat matstånd och åt någon kycklingrätt har jag för mig.
Det var trångt, trångt, trångt och efter en stund kom en man och en kvinna fram och frågade om de fick dela det lilla bord jag och Jack satt vid, med oss.
Självklart fick de det, och de började strax att prata framför allt.
Den här mannen – Tom – var en alldeles fantastisk person. Som han pratade med Jack, och Jack pratade tillbaka och berättade på sin bästa engelska nånsin om hur vi hade rest, vad vi hade gjort i Peru, varför han älskar att resa, och Tom berättade tillbaka. Om sitt liv på resande fot, om att följa sina drömmar, om äventyren, om hur mycket resandet har gett honom.
Det var ett så otroligt speciellt möte, och Tom var uppriktigt rörd och glad över att ha fått träffa Jack och prata med honom en lång stund. Det var som om det uppstod ett band dem emellan, den unge backpackern och den äldre. Här kunde de mötas vid ett litet vegetariskt matstånd på en livlig inomhusmarknadsplats i San Blas i Cusco.
Jag är glad att jag tänkte på att ta ett par bilder av dem båda tillsammans, som ett minne.
Det är möten som dessa som berikat vårt liv så otroligt mycket, och jag är evigt tacksam mot dem som både gett oss och framför allt våra barn något speciellt som jag är övertygad om redan har stärkt dem och utvecklat dem, och som de kommer att bära med sig i livet.
