En sak jag har blivit allt bättre på är att förena nytta med nöje. Eller kanske snarare att förena nytta med återhämtning.
För att vara lite reflekterande så tror jag det hör ihop med hur vi som familj har utvecklats och vågat ta fler och fler steg mot hur vi vill leva. Livet har blivit mer som en helhet, inte nödvändigtvis uppdelat i jobb/fritid/tid med barnen.

Jag vill inte leva för att jobba. Jag jobbar för att leva, men vill förstås gärna trivas så bra som möjligt under tiden.
När jag träffade Patrik och valde att säga upp mig från Expressen och flytta hem så valde jag samtidigt att bli frilansjournalist, mest för att det var den arbetsformen som fanns att välja på.
Med åren känner jag att jag bara trivs bättre och bättre med företagarrollen. Friheten är värd så oerhört mycket för mig/oss (Patrik är ju också egenföretagare idag) Jag gillar att tänka utveckling och hitta nya sätt att jobba, även om det i mitt/vårt fall ofta är i mindre skala.
Vi har inga anställda och stor business, men vi har heltidsjobb, inkomster så att vi försörjer vår familj och dessutom kan spara till våra resor & upplevelser – och vi har friheten.

Under några dagar den här veckan har jag befunnit mig på Västkusten i jobbsyfte, och passade på att njuta av vacker natur och fint boende under tiden.
Just när jag började som frilans jagade jag billigaste priserna varje gång jag skulle ut på jobb och behövde bo över. Kånkade på påslakan och checkade in på enklast tänkbara vandrarhem.
Var så angelägen om att hålla nere kostnaderna, tills jag insåg att det inte riktigt var så konstruktivt i längden. Att lägga på några hundralappar för ett boende med tex fungerande wifi och en redan bäddad säng bidrog nog till mindre stress och mer effektiv arbetstid istället.
Och så vidare.

Jag är fortfarande väldigt kostnadsmedveten, både i jobbet och privat. Men jag har lärt mig att jag fungerar som bäst om jag får kombinera nytta med återhämtning. Är jag på reportageresa i Dalarna, vilket jag är då och då, försöker jag boka in en natt på Dalecarlia i Tällberg eftersom jag vet att jag mår så galet bra där. Även om jag har tokmycket jobb och bara hinner en kort vända till spa:et, och (som oftast) köper med en färdigsallad från Ica och äter på rummet, så ger det mig en sån energi bara att vara och sova i den miljön.
Jag bestämmer alltså att det är värt de pengar hotellrummet kostar för mitt företag, eftersom jag (som är själva grunden i företaget) mår bra av det och får bra förutsättningar att jobba effektivt.

Just de här dagarna på Västkusten hade jag turen att ha med mamma på jobbresan. Hon var både sällskap och jobbassistent, och vi fick tid även för njutning. Som när vi bodde på mysiga Smögens Havsbad, med utsikt över havet och klipporna från rummet.
Hur vackert som helst.
Och promenaden på den ännu öde Smögenbryggan var härlig.
Sen går jag ofta upp tidigt på mina jobbresor, skriver en text klockan 06 på morgonen, mejlar bilder sent på kvällarna. Men istället kanske jag ger mig själv några promenadtimmar mitt på dagen eller en stund i en varm pool på ett spa.
Det är ju jag som bestämmer hur jag lägger upp min arbetstid.

Nu låter det kanske som att jag alltid är ute och bor på hotell i jobbet. Det är jag verkligen inte. Men det händer ibland.
Och det behöver inte heller handla just om att bo på hotell, utan kanske om att stanna vid en vacker sjö för fem minuters paus med kaffetermosmuggen under en jobbdagsresa tur och retur till Västerås.

Dessutom jobbar jag/vi ju även på våra familjeresor. Gör resereportage och andra reportage, plus bloggen som i någon mån också blir som ett jobb. Gränserna är inte så tydliga längre, och jag kan förstå att det inte passar alla att ha det så. Men det passar mig och oss.
Jobbet ger oss förutsättningar till ett friare liv än vad vi hade haft som anställda. Det kräver en hel del också, koll på alltifrån tjänstepension till försäkringar, skatter och momser. Ingen trygg inkomst utan allt hänger bara på oss själva.
Men det ger oss så mycket, och vi trivs med att ha det såhär. Det har varit och är mycket hårt jobb också, men det känns som att vi lever mer och mer så som vi vill – nära barnen och varandra, och vi tänker mer i termer av ”hur vill vi som familj leva?” istället för ”hur vill jag jobba?”.

Vi har ju ett ganska stort äventyr framför oss, som också handlar en hel del om jobb. Exakt hur och vad vet vi inte riktigt än. Tankar, planer och funderingar som ständigt rullar runt i huvudet och som förhoppningsvis hittar sin form här framöver.
Nu när vi nu säljer huset för att förverkliga den här livsdrömmen så försvinner ju även min fysiska arbetsplats; kontorsstugan (gäststugan). Men det känns inte som att det hänger på det, jobba kan jag göra var som helst. Även om jag såklart kommer att sakna min fina stuga.

Men en sak står ju i alla fall klar – under nio månader kommer vi verkligen att utöva konsten i just detta – att kombinera nytta med nöje.
Hur det kommer att gå vet vi ju inte än, men jag känner mig väldigt inspirerad i att tänka nytt och framåt.
Det är roligt att ni är många som vill följa oss längs vägen – det ger ytterligare energi.
