Jag ligger i hotellsängen på tjugonde våningen i Las Vegas. Solen har nyss gått ner, och på stans välkända paradgata The Strip (som jag har nedanför mitt fönster) har alla lampor har tänts upp.
Neonkvällen är här igen. Själv har jag feber och bihålorna värker. Patrik, Milo och Jack är ute och kollar runt på stan.
Sista kvällen här, och sista kvällen i USA.
Vi blev här oproportioneligt länge, på sätt och vis. Åtta nätter är länge i Las Vegas.
Men vi får ju rätta oss en del efter hur våra flyganslutningar går, plus att det kändes ganska skönt att få ett lite längre stopp på ett och samma ställe. Ett stort (med våra mått mätt..) rum, och tid att reseplanera med bra wifi (åh vad det behövdes…), och tid att typ kolla på tv, läsa, fixa bankärenden och sortera bilder.
Excalibur, ett av många speciella hotell här. Själva bor vi i en cirkus, men mer om det senare.
Dessutom har vi gjort Las Vegas rejält. Tack vare att vi hade så lång tid här så gjorde det inte så mycket att både jag och Milo varit sjuka. Milo hade feber ett par dagar, och så jag nu.
Klart att det alltid är roligare att vara friska, men jag får nog ändå vara nöjd med att det i princip är den första åkomman jag har på hela resan. Och Milo har haft typ en feberdag förut, i Malaysia.
Så om det nu skulle komma var det ganska bra att det blev just här, om ni förstår hur jag menar.
Jag vet inte om ni tycker att det är konstigt att vi hänger runt i Las Vegas så länge, vi som ska föreställa budgetresenärer.
Jo, det kan man ju på sätt och vis tycka. Men jag kan lugna er med att vi bor på billigt hotell, och har lagt noll kronor på spel, noll kronor på alkohol och nästan ingenting på shopping (förutom några smågrejer till Jack när han fyllde år) under vår vecka här. Så jag tror våra kontoutdrag just från Vegas ser bättre ut – eller i alla fall väldigt annorlunda ut än många andras när de åker härifrån 🙂 🙂
Det har varit väldigt kul att hänga här, och det som är det bästa med stan – som jag ser det – är ju gratis.
Det är galet, extra allt överallt, alla dessa gigantiska hotell, shoppinggallerior, stora casinon, blinkande lampor, gatuartister, musik, människor av alla de slag, vräkiga fontäner, skyskrapor med guldfasader, och allt allt allt.
Men personligen vet jag inte om jag hade tyckt att det hade varit så kul här utan barnen, mer än kanske någon dag eller två.
Den stora behållningen har varit att hänga runt med Milo och Jack och se dom ta in alla intryck i denna ändå väldigt fascinerande stad, och uppleva alla färger, ljud och händelser med dem.
Vi har haft kul! Las Vegas med barn är TOPPEN!
Men själva det ”vuxna” Las Vegas vet jag inte om det lockar så mycket till återbesök… Nu har jag i och för sig aldrig spelat nåt mer än Bingolotto och skrapat Trisslotter i mitt liv, så jag tillhör väl inte riktigt Casino-målgruppen, men de flesta såna som vi har gått igenom (de ligger i hotellen/shoppinggalleriorna, så även om man hade velat undvika casinona så är det närmast omöjligt) är dunkla och luktar rök. Några få är sådär tjusiga som i filmerna, men finns mycket som är väldigt o-tjusigt också. Murriga heltäckningsmattor, trista barer och spelmaskiner överallt där lite för många deppigt stirrande människor sitter och röker, dricker öl och trycker på maskinerna, timme efter timme efter timme. Och oväntat mycket som känns slitet och skulle behöva en renovering, även på de mer finare ställena.
Finns förstås fina och trevliga barer och restauranger också, och en del platser på The Strip (till exempel Venedig) gillar jag verkligen!
Men om jag skulle tänka bort barnen och istället tänka långhelg bara Patrik och jag, eller ihop med vänner, för ”äta middag-dricka drinkar”-grejen skulle jag hellre åka någon annanstans. Känns som att det är antingen sunkigt och inrökt, eller supertjusigt. Saknar det där ”myshänget” mitt emellan, i alla fall på de platser där jag/vi har rört oss.
Medan vi imorgon natt styr färden mot Nicaragua för att inleda vårt luffande genom Centralamerika så kommer det fortsätta komma upp lite ytterligare Las Vegas-rapporter här.
Om Jacks härliga födelsedagsfirande som varade i dagarna två, om vårt Cirkushotell, en fartfylld nöjesparksdag och lite annat.
Och med mig ska det nog för övrigt inte vara någon fara. Apoteket sålde en bihåleinflammationsmedicin som verkar ha gjort underverk redan efter tre tabletter, så jag har gott hopp om framtiden och flygresan imorgon natt 🙂
Jag får typ alltid bihåleinflammation när jag blir förkyld så jag tror jag ska gå och köpa med mig ett litet lass av denna amerikanska mirakelkur imorgon.
Vi åt en kväll på roliga restaurangen Bubba Gump Shrimp & Co som är helt och hållet skapad med Forrest Gump-filmen som förebild. Allt är Forrest Gump! Inredning, meny, mat. Välgjort, fint och gott! Trots att barnen inte har sett filmen än så gillade de restaurangen. Vi åt på den även när vi var i HongKong för 3,5 år sen (inledningen på vår halvårsresa genom Sydostasien), och gillade även den!
