Lång vidsträckt vit strand, kantad av palmer. Bara blått hav framför. Men nästan inga hotell eller resorts, utan bara några homestays här och var, det vill säga man bor hemma hos en familj som har byggt till en mindre ”hotellbyggnad” på sin tomt. De har ingen vanlig restaurang, utan man serveras mat vid vissa tidpunkter och då utan någon meny.
Vi har än så länge bara hittat någon enstaka vanlig restaurang, och det finns bara några få affärer. Och dessa är inte alls turistanpassade, inga badleksaker i plast, vykort eller märkeskopior, inga strandförsäljare, inga solstolsrader.
Eftersom Marari ändå ligger relativt lättillgängligt nära Backwaters i Kerala, som är välbesökt av turister, så är det förvånande att denna helt underbara strand ännu får vara så oexploaterad. Vi är SÅ positivt överraskade. Det är en otroligt vacker plats.
Det finns många fiskare som bor och utgår härifrån, och ibland blir det mer aktivitet, när det är dags att ta upp eller i fiskebåtarna, ta rätt på näten och så vidare.
Igår när det var söndag var det också mer liv på stranden, eftersom lokalbefolkningen då kommer till stranden för att spendera lite ledig tid. Milo och Jack var med ett gäng och spelade fotboll i solnedgången.
Vi bor på Marari Austin Villa, ett homestay hemma hos en familj – Austin och Jasmine och deras barn Brian och Ann-Maria. Bara efter några dagar känns det som vi kommit dem nära. Vid frukosten imorse kom vi att prata om bröllopstraditioner, och då hämtade de sitt bröllops-fotoalbum och visade och berättade om ceremonin.
Och Milo och Jack har redan haft mycket kul med sexåriga Brian, de spelar mycket fotboll och så har vi lärt honom Yatzy. Det gillar han!
