Inför att Milo skulle börja skolan i höstas så vet jag att jag kände mig lite… vemodig mitt i allt roligt & kul som en skolstart innebär.
Men resandet då?! Vi som verkligen dragit ut på våra resor, och varit borta varje vinter med barnen minst sex veckor, oftast mer.
Men nu var det alltså över. Eller..?

Självklart var det så att skolan var bland det första vi tänkte på varje gång vi ändå tog upp den där jorden runt-drömmen, lite sådär i förbifarten ibland.
”Ja, nej, det får väl bli någon kortare grej under något lov”, sa vi tappert till varandra.
Det finns förstås skolor utomlands också, även svenska sådana, men vi har inte riktigt känt oss klara med resa runt-grejen. Att ”bara” åka och slå oss ner på en och samma plats är inte vad vi velat nu, och dessutom bygger de jobb vi gör och vill göra snarare just på att vi reser runt och upplever många olika saker.
Så en dag började vi googla. För i takt med att den där drömmen faktiskt började bli mer konkret och även började innefatta mer och mer jobbtankar, så kände vi att vi i alla fall måste gå ett steg vidare.
Milo går i ettan nu, och alltså i tvåan när vi planerar att vara borta. Jack skulle ha gått i sexårsverksamheten, vilken inte lyder under skolplikten.

Det finns ett utrymme i skollagen för att bevilja att föräldrarna undervisar sitt barn själva, till exempel vid en längre resa om det finns ”synnerliga skäl”. Detta betyder dock inte att det bara är att fylla i en lapp och så får man det. Nej, det är en noggrann och som jag förstått det väl prövad process, där varje fall bedöms individuellt av respektive kommun.
Jag måste verkligen poängtera det, känner jag, så att det inte framstår som att vi har fått nåt enkelt ”frikort” här, för så är det absolut inte.

Vi har inte fått någon motivering till det beslut vi fått så jag kan inte svara på exakt hur man gjort bedömningen i just vårt fall, men det vi själva framfört i flera brev (ansökning plus kompletteringar) är att vi ska arbeta under resans gång. Jag jobbar ju alltså som frilansjournalist och ska göra resereportage och andra typer av reportage, plus att vi har några andra olika projekt vi planerar att jobba med längs vägen. Patrik har ägnat sig mycket åt fotografering under de senaste åren, inte minst på resorna, och vi gillar att jobba tillsammans och hoppas kunna förverkliga några idéer och tankar vi har. Det är så att vi driver ett gemensamt företag, jag har haft det sen 2008 och sen snart två år tillbaka jobbar även Patrik i samma företag.
Vi har även lyft fram hur vi brukar resa och även planerar att resa nu; med stort fokus på att komma nära de olika kulturerna och människorna vi möter. Att vi och barnen tillsammans ska uppleva och lära oss saker är liksom redan högsta prioritet, skola eller inte.
Vi reser alltså inte för att få en snygg bränna.., utan av helt andra skäl.

Något vi också är oändligt glada och tacksamma för är att vi har fått ett jättebra bemötande i detta av Milos lärare och rektor, och tack vare det kunde vi också ta fram en tänkt planering inför studierna som vi alltså ska ha hand om i samarbete med skolan under årskurs 2. En planering som vi sen också lämnade in till kommunen.

Så vi kommer alltså att ha skola under dagarna, Milo kommer att dels få med sig böcker från skolan, och det kommer också bli så att han kommer att använda mycket av det vi gör och upplever i sin undervisning. Till exempel att han skriver en berättelse om någon utflykt vi gjort, och vad det nu kan vara.
Att träna mycket på engelska blir också en självklarhet, och förstås att läsa mycket (blir nog en hel del e-böcker!) Och Jack lär ju också hänga på, så han får väl ta tvåans årskurs istället för sexårs nästa år 🙂
Vi ska också avrapportera hem till lärarna ett par gånger i månaden vad Milo har gjort.
Eftersom vårt jobb är så fritt, det är ju vi själva som planerar och lägger upp allting, så är vi säkra på att vi kan hitta en bra balans. Dessutom är barnen nästan alltid med på jobben vi gör, ja det är de ju förstås alltid om det är vi båda som ska göra ett jobb, och annars är ju en av oss med dem medan den andra jobbar.

Milo kommer att börja skolan med sina klasskompisar i tvåan och gå någon vecka innan vi drar iväg, och så kommer vi hem så att han kan avsluta skolåret på hemmaplan också. Och planen är alltså att han fortsätter i sin klass sen, vilket vi är jätteglada för eftersom han trivs jättebra med både lärare och kompisar.

Så vi är jättetacksamma och glada för den goda dialog vi har med Strömtorpsskolan och Degerfors kommun. Det känns som ett förtroende som vi såklart ska se till att vårda.
Sen ska det faktiskt bli himla kul att se hur vi får till det, skolan kommer ju att bli en rutin i resandet. Milo är taggad, och vi kommer såklart att skriva mycket mer om skolan, planeringen och hur det faktiskt går när vi är iväg.

    1. Ja, goda relationer är en bra grund!! Sen är det klart att vår resa sticker ut lite på så sätt att vi blir borta ett helt läsår och ska jobba under tiden, men oavsett det så tänker jag att går man in med en positiv och vänlig inställning så är i alla fall hälften vunnet. Resandet ger ju barnen mycket också, även om jag naturligtvis förstår att skolgången är viktig.. Och för oss känns det roligt att få förtroendet att göra detta i samarbete med skolan, känns jättebra! Kram till dig!

    1. Ja vi känner oss jättetacksamma att detta gick att få till! Toppendialog med lärare/rektor/kommun. Jag är ju lite partisk, men tycker vår kommun är väldigt bra att bo i (inte bara för detta) men lyhört, vänligt och resonabelt, typ.
      Så vi kommer tillbaka hit, så småningom.. 🙂
