Det började ju så bra. Med en magisk soluppgång uppe på vulkanen Kelimutu, och en härlig vandring nerför.
Så kom vi ut på bilvägen som vi förstått att vi skulle gå längs med för att komma tillbaka ner till byn Moni, där vi bodde.
Men så kom det en stig som såg så spännande och genväg:ig ut…
– Den här vägen måste ju gå snabbare och vara roligare! sa vi glatt, och svängde in.
Och vi gick.
Och vi gick…
Till saken hör att det är enormt varmt här. Temperaturen låg denna förmiddag en bit över 30 grader.
Efter nästan två timmars vandring närmade vi oss en by och tänkte att nu är vi framme! När vi insåg att det var en HELT annan by, i ett helt annat vädersträck så kände vi ungefär såhär:
Byn var visserligen fin och rolig att se. En kyrka (Flores är en kristen ö) och en skola, där vi väckte stor uppmärksamhet när vi promenerade förbi.
Vi frågade om vägen till Moni och människorna pekade. Ingen verkade kunna engelska.
Vi vandrade vidare. Nu började det bli sjukt varmt, och jag började bli en smula orolig eftersom vi heller inte passerade någon butik för att köpa mer vatten i.
Vi kom ut på en liten väg igen.
Barnen, som ALDRIG brukar beklaga sig över värme eller att det är långt att gå, började tycka att det fick räcka snart. Milo klagade över ont i benen (och jag förstår honom, själv hade jag tränings´värk i två dagar efteråt…) och jag började känna att vi MÅSTE lösa detta nu.
Inga bilar passerade, bara en och annan motorcykel. Typ en var tionde minut.
Vi bestämde att Patrik skulle försöka lifta med nästa som kom och jag och barnen stanna på en plats i skuggan och vänta på att han ordnade en bil som kunde hämta oss.
DÅ!
Tada, någon form av sandbrott – och en lastbil! Patrik gick fram och frågade om de möjligen skulle till Moni när de hade lastat klart all sand. Och det skulle de, och vi fick gärna åka med!
Vi satte oss och väntade medan arbetarna fyllde flaket, skyfflandes för hand med vanliga spadar, och sen hoppade Patrik upp på flaket och jag, Milo och Jack fick åka i förarhytten.
Så det löste ju sig, trots allt! Som det så ofta gör, på något underligt vis…
